Agricultural Communication Workshop to be hosted by OSU Club
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State University Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow
chapter members are set to host an agricultural communications workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 25 in 101 Agricultural Hall.
The workshop is designed to help Oklahoma FFA members prepare for the annual
Agricultural Communications Career Development Event by providing hands on learning
experience and instruction from ACT members and previous CDE competitors.
“I know the value of these events and this workshop is immense,” said Adrienne Blakey, workshop coordinator and plant science and agricultural communications senior. “Especially if these students have any interest in communications or journalism whatsoever in their future career.”
Topics to be covered during the workshop include photography and graphics judging,
written reasons, news releases and a Q&A portion, according to the flyer posted on the OSU ACT Facebook page.
The workshop will be led by agricultural communication faculty and ACT members. The workshop gives ACT members the opportunity to give back by teaching the skills they are learning in their current classes to FFA members.
FFA chapters across Oklahoma are welcome to bring a maximum of five students to the workshop and need to register online. If registered by midnight Jan. 23, the registration fee is $5 per member. After this time, registration will increase to $15 per member. Check in begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the workshop at 9 a.m.
The OSU Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow is a professional development
organization for college students in agricultural communications. The goal of this organization is to connect current students with both faculty and industry leaders to promote personal growth and leadership in agricultural communications. The OSU ACT chapter holds meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 5. For more information, visit the OSU ACT Facebook page and Instagram.
